Last weekend I spent some time looking back over the books I read last year. Here is a list and reviews of a few of my favorites from 2011. My number one top favorite book each and every year is the Bible! :)
by A. W. Pink
~
An in-depth study on the sovereignty of God. Our view on God's sovereignty has a huge impact on how we handle the trials and hardships of life.
by John Piper
~
This is another great book about God's sovereignty, but deals more specifically on God's sovereignty over the terrible sins in history and their global purpose in the glory of Christ. It is a small book packed with great truth!
by John Piper
~
A comprehensive study on delighting in God and how this affects all aspects of our life. "Christ is most magnified in His people when they are most satisfied in Him." I highly recommend this book.
by John MacArthur
~
This book gives new insight into the parable of the Prodigal Son. You will learn the historical context of the parable and thus grasp a deeper meaning and application. MacArthur believes that the main point/lesson of the parable is one that is not commonly thought or realized.
by Francis A. Schaeffer
~
If you want to more clearly understand the modern mindset and how it has come about through the years, this is the book for you! Mr. Schaeffer has a lot of wisdom! This is not a light read.
I would love to learn of your favorites from 2011!

As the new year begins, I am in the midst of reading the following books:
It's (Not That) Complicated
by Anna Sofia and Elizabeth Botkin
Slave The Hidden Truth About Your Identity In Christ
by John MacArthur
Escape From Reason
Francis A. Schaeffer
~ Happy New Year! ~

Hello, Amy! You are an avid reader, I see. I love all of John Piper's writing. I have heard a lot about 'The Sovereignty of God by Pink and would like to pick that one up. My daughter is reading 'It's {No That} Complicated'! She wishes she had read it earlier. I am so glad you have graced us today with your reading list. It always helps to get awakened to what's there for us. Thank God for raising up authors who present the Truth.
Mrs. Line,
